Rob Shaw’s career as a self taught artist is one of great interest and success. With a background in interior architecture, Rob made the transition to painting as a full time career in 2006, focussing his works on his local community of Staithes, Yorkshire. His work truly makes an impression on the viewer with his layered paint, identifiable stylisation and use of colour depicting the scenes and subjects that surround him – with an aim to push the materials and paintings to their breaking point.

Rob’s commitment to his art and creative process has earned him places in multiple publications and Royal Academy Shows, and so we feel very lucky to have him join us at the gallery.
