NICOLA COUTTS
Based in Midlothian, Nicola Coutts holds an MA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate MA in Conservation of Fine Art from the University of Northumbria.
Part of Nicola’s artistic inspiration stems from the local gardens that she frequents, lately she has learned to cultivate sweet peas, wildflowers, tulips, rhododendrons and alliums in her own garden.
In 2023 she completed a rigorous part-time course in Printmaking at Leith School of Art, where she specialised in monotype and mono-screenprinting techniques. This experience greatly influenced her painting style, resulting in a freer use of collage, enriched mark-making, and heightened colour intensity.
Nicola looks forward to further cultivate her garden, enhancing its wildness and colour palette, ultimately strengthening it’s role as a creative muse in her artistic journey.
