LEX MACFADYEN
Lex MacFadyen, who lives between both Argyll, Scotland and Burgundy, France, is an extremely established and well-renowned Scottish creative. Graduating from the Glasgow School of Art with an Honours degree in Fine Art, Lex has expanded his artistic education and practice greatly over the years. For 17 years Lex ran a successful fashion design business, creating top end couture ranges and acting as consultant to large-scale manufactures in the UK and abroad. He has shown collections in New York, Paris, Amsterdam.
Lex returned to painting and drawing in 2002 and has since gained vast popularity and following. Lex’s vibrant, colourful and impactful oil paintings provide a unique and contemporary approach, with beautiful and bold use of colour with strong contrasting outlines. His approach results in the creation of striking domestic scenes, portraits, sculptures and still lifes.
Over the years, Lex has received vast praise and recognition through a multitude of prestigious awards. Notable prizes include the receipt of the PF Charitable Trust Award, the major prize at the Visual Arts Scotland Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. In addition, in 2020, he was the recipient of the Glasgow Art Club Award at the 132nd Paisley Art Institute Exhibition.
